Investing in the School
Money raised from PTA fundraisers has helped the school meet its larger and longer term goals details of major purchases can be found below.
The PTA continues to provide new resources and equipment of a smaller scale, such as arts and craft materials, an annual Christmas play for all the children, an annual theatre trip for year two children, maths and literacy funding, to name but a few.
The PTA welcomes new, fun and challenging ways of raising money so if you have any suggestions please contact one of our committee members or come along to one of our termly meetings.
How the money was spent.
2020-2021 Once again it was a tough year, hampered by the various lockdowns and restrictions. Yet the PTA sought to raise funds in socially-distanced ways and the school community rallied together raising over £2,000 in a sponsored Fund for Fitness event, whereby families set their own fitness challenges independently. Other highlights included Bouncing for Books (held outside to comply with Covid) raising over £3,000 and the adapted Break-up Bonanza (instead of the school fete), which achieved over £3,000 also. Overall we raised over £13,000 and were successful in moving forwards and installing the much-needed break out space, The Nest.
2019-2020 The year started off incredibly well with fundraising at an all time high. The school spent money on replacing laptops and ipads in the classrooms, new reading books, renewed subscriptions to Bug Club (an online reading program) and Mathletics among other things. Sadly in March 2020 Covid struck and fundraising all but ceased. The team raised £14,000.
2018-2019 The PTA continue to be overwhelmed by the support and generosity through donations and fundraisers. This year was no different to others raising in excess of £20,000. The money was spent on many items around the school but the main investment went to building an incredible Outdoor Learning Woodland space in the school grounds. Since it was completed, the children have enjoyed outdoor learning days lead by Wild learning experts. They have even learnt to make a fire (under strict supervision). The children added some bug hotels in 2020 using pallets, straw, sticks and leaves.
2016-2017 was yet again another record breaking year. We raised an amazing £19,785. A crucial £3,500 was given to the school to cover a deficit in the school budget due to rising NI and Pension costs. Money was also spent on a year 2 theatre trip, outside shelter for the year 2 garden, the visiting Christmas theatre, Christmas presents, Christmas trees, new supplies for the maths packs and art supplies. There is currently around £21,000 available to the school, with projects such as the year 2 outdoor space and reception decking area as a next project goal.
2015-2016 was a record breaking year. We raised a staggering £19,000. The money has been used to buy some vital equipment for the school plus we have also funded some well-earned experiences for the children. It funded things such as the new Y1 outdoor learning area, 6 new IPads with covers, new apps, new books, playground chimes, new mini mac monitor and keyboard, year 2 theatre trip, visiting Christmas theatre, Christmas presents, Christmas tree, spring sing, new picnic bench, new maths pack supplies, art supplies and making up to £4K available to the school to cover a potential budget shortfall.
Thank you all for your help in raising these funds.
